I had the absolute pleasure of joining Selena & James and their very nearest and dearest to witness their very special & intimate wedding ceremony. It was my first time photographing a Hindu ceremony and was just in awe of the beauty and colours used. (more…)

Have I mentioned recently how much I love my job? I love being able to capture memories for my clients friends throughout all their major life events. So when I got a call from K&D telling me they were expecting their first and would I come do some newborn photos for them? I could never say no. K&D were one of my first wedding couples way back when. Was so great to see them again and meet their gorgeous “little” man. (more…)

I did a little sneak peak a few weeks ago of Jen & Craig’s amazing wedding day down in Cuba. Today I would like to share some more of my favourite photos from their special day. It goes without saying that weddings are special because of the vows and the rings and the kiss… but it is also about the relationship that is shared and the families coming together to truly celebrate the beauty of their love. I had the absolute privilege to spend time while in Cuba with Jen & Craig’s family, each one unique and individually special and so tightly bonded by love that is family. I had met Jen’s family last year when I photographed Kevin & Robyn’s beautiful wedding, and met Craig’s talented family on this trip. (more…)

Phil & Sarah were married back in January of this year at a beautiful & intimate ceremony at La Maquette restaurant in Toronto. Through Phil’s work connections one of his friends and colleagues made the gown Sarah chose from a vintage pattern. I love that it was blue and I love that she wore a bird cage veil and I ESPECIALLY love that she wore John Fluevog shoes! (more…)

I first fell in love with photography when I was 16 years old in Grade 11. I signed up for the black & white film photography class like everyone did, and learned the ways of film. I really didn’t think much about it other than it would be an easy credit, I didn’t know it would change me forever. That semester I got to go on an exchange trip to Switzerland so that I could learn French(and go skiing!!!) My photography teacher gave me one of the schools old Pentax cameras and a few dozen rolls of b&w film and the course outline and told me to go for it! If I got some decent shots that showed I read the outline he’d give me the credit when I got back. Scores!!! So I read and read and took that camera with me everywhere! I took photos of everyone and everything. It is hard to imagine not being able to see the image immediately anymore… that I just took them and was ok with that… oh how digital has changed us!! So my first true photography love was street photography in Europe, at age 16! One day I will scan some of my old negs and print them again, for fun.
When I was recently away in Cuba, I was very excited to take a one day excursion to the intoxicating city of Havana. I must admit I didn’t know much about the city before I set off on that bus ride, other than: old cars; everywhere!!! I learned about the people and how old the city was, and about cigars and about Che Guevara and how important this Argentinian man is to Cuba. I was a sponge and just absorbed all the info our tour guide delivered. We went to the old and new parts of Havana(the new part is still over a few hundred years old). I shot from the hip for most of the photos with people in them. Just wanted them to remain unaware and go about their regular lives. I love my job and what I get to capture, but I loved being able to use my camera to selfishly capture how I will always remember Havana.

I had the absolute honour and pleasure to join Jen & Craig in Cuba, along with their amazing family and friends to capture and celebrate their wedding. I have so many beautiful photos I can not wait to share with Jen & Craig, and post on my blog, but for now a few sneak peaks because I love htem and can’t wait to share! This will likely require several blog posts in order to do it justice, that and I just took a lot of photos and I want to share them all!

Happy 2012 everyone!
I hope you enjoyed your holidays as much as I did!
I am also enjoying this super mild winter so far! I should watch what I say, it will probably start snowing within the hour!
I have been enjoying meeting new clients already this January and making plans for engagement sessions this year. One topic of conversation that always comes up is “what should we wear for our engagement session?”
I always suggest that she find something she feels beautiful in, and then work on his clothes around yours.
You do not need to wear matchy matchy outfits… who dresses like that anyway? BUT something that will work well together is always a good choice.
I have a board on Pinterest with lots of ideas on stylish clothing choices and colours that look great together if you need a little bit more inspiration
check it out!

and a blog post wouldn’t be as much fun without some photos. Just quickly grabbed a couple of engagement session photos to show what I mean how they complemented each other without overpowering yet still lots of personal style!
I can’t wait for my first esession of the year booked for February! We just need a little snow!

so 2011 is officially over… how did that happen? (and am I the only one who says this every year?)
I have had such a wonderful year and so many beautiful brides & charming grooms, hilarious family members and the odd off the wall limo driver!(megan & julia you know what I mean!) I have been so blessed to have witnessed 37 unique and charming wedding ceremonies capturing memories of their special days for generations to come. I truly love what I do and consider it not only an honour but a privilige to make these photographs for my wonderful clients. I thank you for this opportunity.
In years past I have commemorated the year by creating a slideshow of favourite images which was fun, but I thought I would mix things up a bit and make it into a contest!
yes you heard right… a contest right here on my blog!
the prize… a 16×20 canvas for my 2011 wedding client who has the most votes in the comment section here on my blog only!
Facebook biz page votes DO NOT count. Please scroll down to the bottom here on my blog and vote in the comment section by naming the number and/or name of couple that you would like to win! If you have not posted on my blog yet it will not show up until I approve it, but I promise I will do so lickity split!
I also am going to give away an itunes gift card randomly to someone who votes in the comments section… so there is lots of incentive!!
I have a slight addiction to photographs printed on canvas, I have them through out my home, and I would love to gift one to one of my very special couples.(this prize has no cash value and you can not trade it for something else, sorry).
Anyone is welcome to vote, random friend, family or bride & groom themselves!!
