Michelle was sooooo excited to be marrying Johnny, I love this moment as she is coming down the aisle with her father, just realizing that it was all finally happening.

Cory getting his groom on

Sonia got ready with her mom and her grandmother who had just arrived in from India.  I could not communicate with her, but when she looked at Sonia you could just see the love and pride and joy in her eyes…

To say we had some fun would be an understatement!  Kelsey went all out stylizing the session and they are some of my favourite family shots so far!!   If you have a family session booked or are thinking about it, let’s put something together to make it even more fun!!

and I have to admit, I was inspired by another photographer friend for the next couple of images, just went so well with their outfits!

Then Kesley & her hubby brought their mad juggling skillzz to the table… I laughed SO hard, the oranges were literally flying!

    and to end their family session Kelsey had brought 40 bright orange balloons… what a way to celebrate your birthday!!

What’s it all about??

I have often come across people in my community who are going through something in their lives be it sickness, recovery, a birth that has overcome great odds, an adoption; and my automatic response to those stories is that I want to reach out to them and offer them a photography session (free of charge of course).

Something that would document this time in their lives, to create memories with those they love or to commemorate a happy and joyful time.
To me the images that we take mean so much more than just a time and a place- they are a celebration of our lives
So I challenge you blog readers and friends on facebook to nominate your friends, family, neighbours, co-workers or those you have heard of who are deserving of such a celebration.

Take an active roll in those lives around you- notice the beauty in one another.

Sometimes we just need to reach out to one another and show our love, even to someone who is a stranger friend
I will choose one application per month (for now) that truly merits a session.
Applications:
Your application of nomination must include your information (name, email address and phone number as well as a detailed description as to why you feel this person or people deserve a session)
Also you must include their name, address, email address and phone number.

For now I will only be doing celebrate love session in the Burlington/Waterdown area.   If you know of someone who deserves a session who is out of the area, but who will travel here, that is fine too.

In honour of announcing the celebrate love sessions I would like to start by sharing some photos from my first celebrate love family photo shoot.

My parents live down the street from the H family and I knew immediately I wanted to offer them a photo session.  I can not imagine what they are going through helping one of their beautiful daughters who is fighting Leukemia.   I have enjoyed reading their family blog as they share so graciously with the world the ups and downs of the battle they are facing.   Not only did I want the chance to spend some time with them as a family, I wanted to bless them with some photos that I pray will remind them of the strength they have together as a family unit, to fight this, and win!!

I was so happy to hear that we had grandparents coming too who are an integral part of the family.   All six of you have touched my heart deeply, and have to admit, I have fallen in love your family in the short time we were together.  I hope you enjoy your sneak peak!!

I have so many photos to share, let’s get started!!
some details while Clare got ready

Clare & Dave chose to see each other before their ceremony so we could do their romantic photos, and then so after the ceremony they could go right to the reception and not miss out on any of the cocktail hour.   I love when brides & grooms do this.  I know tradition says go the other way, but this way is wonderful too.  They had a chance to just hold each other and enjoy the moment when they first saw each other and this is what I made.

Both Clare & Dave went to McMaster, so it was only fitting that they do their wedding photos there.  I spent a good chunk of time on this campus myself back a few years ago when I attended and got my BA!   It is a gorgeous backdrop for wedding photos.  Here are some of my favourites.

 Then it was time to go and get C & D married!!

Clare’s appartment is not far from the church they were getting married in so she decided to walk to the church with her family!!  It was SO much fun to see the people on the street react to this gorgeous bride walking along on a Friday afternoon. 

After the ceremony, Clare and her grandmother wanted to get a photo at the front of the church as it was the same church her grandmother had been married in, twice! 

Dave grabbed a shot too! 

And finally on to the reception which was held at the Art Gallery of Hamilton
